How to Stop Nassau County Squirrels from Chewing on Your House or Plants
Nassau County squirrels can be a nightmare when they attack your house, as it can cause structural damage as well as electrical as they gnaw on pretty much anything. This is due to the fact that their teeth constantly grow, so they need to constantly keep them trimmed. They also attack people's plants for the reason any other animal would, for food.
One of the easiest ways for you to stop New York squirrels from getting into and destroying your home is through prevention in the first place. This includes basic things such as removing any low hanging branches and any branches which are near your house. This is to stop any squirrel from jumping into your house and reducing the number of helping hands you give them. Another way is to ensure that all areas of your house are sealed and that there are no gaps in places such as the loft or if a vent has lost its cover.
Another way is to grind up chillies, mix it with water, and spray around the house. There is a certain chemical in chillies which are just too strong for the squirrels and as a result they steer clear of the stuff.
For plants there are different methods. One of the easier ones actually helps them as well. Setting up a water sprinkler system will stop Nassau County squirrels, along with the majority of other animals, dead in their tracks, as animals absolutely HATE getting wet. Another method is to simple put a cage around your flowers, obviously not one which blocks out the sunlight, but one where squirrels have no way in (such as metal holed cages). As long as there is plenty distance between the flowers and the cage perimeter, the squirrels won't be able to get them.
