What Materials Can a Nassau County Rodent Chew Through?

Mice and Nassau County squirrels are quite cute animals. Their small sizes make them super adorable. Some think these small animals are cute and can’t wait to pet them, while others jump for cover at the mere sight if the rodents, even when they are going about their own business. Rodents have the most interesting teeth. Their incisors teeth never stop growing throughout the rodents’ lives. How sharp these teeth can get is truly remarkable. They are so strong and sharp that only very few materials out there can resist them. To maintain and keep these teeth strong and sharp, the rodents have to keep chewing and gnawing. They sometimes actually just chew for this reason only. That is why their chewing patterns and the materials they chew sometimes can baffle you, and even leave you wondering if their purpose on earth was pure malicious destruction.

Rodents like squirrels need to keep their teeth strong and filed to be able to chew through hard shells like nut shells to access food. New York rats on the other hand, need their teeth sharp and strong to be able to chew through walls and other structures to be able to navigate the houses they infest and live in. If rodents did not gnaw and chew over and over, the teeth would grow too big and finally result in their death. Rodents can chew through quite a great number of materials. The materials include a lot of building materials like wood, plastic, vinyl, aluminium and many more. The main factor actually here, since they can chew through some metals too, is the thickness of the material. The thicker it is, the harder or more impossible it gets for the rodents.

They can also chew through steel wool and glass, but they prefer not to, since the steel wool’s sharp edges tend to be quite abrasive to their nose and the glass tends to hurt their mouths as they try to chew through it. The Nassau County rodent may really try to chew through these materials at first, but they always eventually end up stopping in their tracks when they learn the hard way that it is not advisable to do so. Rodents could also chew through concrete but in this case, it is only the concrete that is not cured properly.
